Greek Mountain Tea, traditionally known as Mountain Tea or Shepherd's Tea, is one of Greece's most cherished traditional herbal infusions. Gathered for centuries from the mountainous regions of Greece, it has a delicate, aromatic flavour and is naturally caffeine-free.
Traditional Use & History
Sideritis has a long history in Mediterranean herbal tradition. Plants known as Sideritis were described by ancient Greek herbal writers including Theophrastus and Dioscorides, although the exact identity of the plants described in antiquity cannot be established with certainty.
The name Sideritis is traditionally associated with the ancient Greek word sideros, meaning iron. One longstanding interpretation connects the herb with the treatment of wounds caused by iron weapons such as swords and spears. In later Greek folklore, Mountain Tea became associated with the mountains and was sometimes called “Tea of the Gods” or “Tea of the Titans”, reflecting its connection with the mythology of Mount Olympus.

Directions
