This batch of St John’s Wort tincture has been made using dried herb rather than fresh flowering tops. We will have another batch with the fresh flowers when the new flowers come in the summer.

Fresh St John’s Wort produces a deep red colour due to the higher levels of hypericin that are released when the fresh plant material is macerated in alcohol. When the herb is dried, this process is less pronounced, resulting in a lighter, less intensely red tincture.

While the colour may differ, the tincture still retains the beneficial properties of St John’s Wort. Dried St John’s Wort still contains important active compounds, especially hyperforin and flavonoids, which also contribute to its traditional uses.

This St John’s Wort tincture is produced using traditional herbal methods and is intended for external use only. It may be used as an ingredient in topical preparations or applied externally as part of a personal care routine, in line with traditional herbal practice.
